God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
God of War is a combination of action and adventure that is why we love this game. Released on April 20, 2018, for the PlayStation 4, it's the eighth installment within the God of War series, the eighth chronologically, and therefore the sequel to 2010's God of War III.

Camera

Best PC games of all time 2020
I don’t know, its a minor nitpick, but for me sometimes when I am standing still the camera starts rotating out of nowhere, which is distracting when I am facing against an enemy.
And guess what, that's it. That's the only thing that I have an issue with. Because the rest of the games are fantastic

Characters

I thought Kratos in the old God of War was good and didn’t expect him to be more fleshed out. I mean, I thought his arc ended nicely right?
Well, playing this game made me realize that Kratos in the old God of War, while good, is nowhere as developed as this God of War.
Kratos is so fleshed out that he’s now one of my favorite video game characters of all time. you clearly see that he’s a developed and likable character. He feels guilty about his mistakes, and he is calmer now.

But let's go to Atreus right here

God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
If its an “escort game” if one of the protagonists is annoying or bad, then the game may fail. Safely to say, Atreus in God of War is likable. He isn’t annoying, and he reacts to how a kid would act. He has a character arc, he went from a naïve little boy to a person who is in shock of killing his first human, to an arrogant god, to a humble individual.
It's just… fricking amazing man. Atreus is one of the most layered characters in the God of War series. If you are interested in making a movie, this is how you make a character arc. I am not joking. And yes, he is actually Loki. Which makes it more exciting.

There is Freya, the Witch of the Forest and Wife of Odin

God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
Freya was a good character. I liked her, and I liked her more than Athena (and it's not because of her looks). I could understand why she had to make those decisions, and why she became paranoid. She really lost anything.
Mimir was also very likable and interesting. I just like his voice and his stories with Kratos and Atreus. He was nice, and whenever he talked I always stopped and listen to his stories.

Then there’s Baldur

God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
I actually liked Baldur as a villain. He was a sympathetic villain, and I totally understand why he became so evil. It wasn’t his fault, and I understand his predicament. In case you don’t know, he was cursed that he couldn’t feel anything. As in the lost sensation. He couldn't taste, he couldn’t feel the soft touches of a blanket, etc. Imagine you couldn’t feel anything, and all you feel is numbness around your body. That's bad.
The second thing I liked about this God of War is
Lore
To be honest, although I knew a lot about Greek Mythology, I didn’t know a lot about Norse mythology. Due to Marvel being extremely popular, I thought Thor and Odin were good guys. But boy was I wrong.
You know, even though Zeus was a horrible dad, Odin is FAR worse like its no contest.
Best PC games of all time 2020
Yeah, Zeus began fearful of the Marked Warrior prophecy, and he did curse Kratos’ mom to turn into a monster, but what Odin’s actions make Zeus look like a saint. In fact, most of Zeus’ worse actions were actually caused by the Pandora Box. And at least it showed that Zeus was born good at first. Sure, Zeus used his own brethren as pawns during the Second Great War, but that was because he was infected by one of the Evils of the world: Fear.

Odin on the other hand. Oh boy, it's a different story.
God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
Odin is literally an egomaniacal psychopath. Even though he was born from a Giant, he believed that his kind was better than the Giants, and is incredibly petty. He literally tried to take over the nine realms, just because he thought his Race was better. Zeus may have done bad things, but he never fricking tried to take over the world. He married Freya to gain knowledge of Vanir magic after that Freya left him because he was abusive to her, and he got what he needed.
Best PC games of all time 2020
Instead of apologizing to Freya, he became petty and played the victim card. He robbed her of her warrior spirit and cursed her to stay in Midgard where she can’t even fight back even in self-defense.
Odin also needed the secrets of Jötunheim and the Giants. However, he made an enemy of them, and he started a genocidal campaign to kill any Giant the Aesir could find. His son Týr attempted to bring peace by inviting Odin to a summit with the Giants, but Odin only agreed to get the secrets of Jotunheim. The giants foresaw this and expelled Odin from their homeland. Týr then permanently opposed Odin's attempts to learn the Giants's secrets, which led to Odin imprisoning and possibly killing Týr.
Zeus may have done some bad things, but Odin takes the cake for the Worst Dad of the Year. He makes Thanos look like a good dad.
Don't even get me started on Thor, who’s a bloodthirsty cruel warmonger.
God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
The Greek Pantheon may have been assholes for sure. But they weren’t assholes 24/7. They had good moments, and are morally good compared to these monsters.
Sorry for the little rant, but that's the point. Every time there’s new lore, I read and listen to the story. It is engaging, and not boring. It fleshes out the realm and gives me a mythology lesson.
Finally,

The Gameplay

God Of War 4 Update: 4 Things We Know So Far
The combat is amazing. It took me a while for me to get used to it, but it makes you think. you can’t just spam. you actually need to upgrade your runic attacks and learn how to fight better. you need to think for a while, and there are some hard enemies (I hate the Realm Tears). Sometimes you have to switch attacks.
Me personally, I prefer the Blades of Chaos, but Leviathan Axe is more useful to fight against harder enemies, while Blades of Chaos are used to fight mobs. To summarize, although I use Leviathan Axe more, I liked the Blades of chaos.
I also loved how there are almost no cuts in the game at all, and the visuals holy hell.

It's realistic, it's immersive. It's great.

Overall, even though the camera I had issues, this game is definitely a 9 out of 10 based on the graphics, story, combat, and characters.
